PMMFS – What on Earth Does That Mean?

Right now, with so many pupils looking for lessons, it can feel like loyalty doesn’t matter. If one learner leaves, another will be along soon… right

Wrong.

Every instructor — no matter how skilled, experienced, or popular — loses pupils from time to time. But if it’s happening often, it’s time to ask why. Sometimes small, unnoticed patterns in your approach can quietly push learners away. Fixing them can turn pupils into long term advocates who stay with you, recommend you, and strengthen your reputation.

At Insight 2 Drive, we don’t judge. We help.

In this supportive workshop, written by Kathy Higgins Dip DI. F Inst MTD and Leanne Condliff DVSA ADI (Grade A), you’ll explore the PMMFS framework and learn how to keep pupils engaged, loyal, and excited to learn with you.

What You’ll Explore

* Recognising themes — identifying habits or behaviours that cause learners to leave.
* PMMFS explained — what it means, why it matters, and how to apply it.
* Turning pupils into advocates — building trust, loyalty, and long-term relationships.
* Support, not judgement — how the training team helps you succeed.

* PDIs wanting to build strong foundations with pupils.
* ADIs looking to retain more learners and grow their reputation.
* Instructors who want satisfied customers to become genuine fans of their teaching.

Developing Appropriate Speed – Staying Safe, Staying in Control

Speed is one of the most misunderstood elements of driving — and one of the most influential. Too fast creates danger. Too slow creates risk. The real skill lies in teaching learners how to judge appropriate speed using concentration, observation, anticipation, space, and time.

This workshop explores how instructors can help tomorrow’s drivers stay safe, stay aware, and stay in control. You’ll also look at the real penalties of speeding, how to teach rural driving effectively, and how the ABC of good driving underpins every safe decision on the road.

Written by Kathy Higgins Dip DI. F Inst MTD and Leanne Condliff DVSA ADI (Grade A), this session gives you practical tools to help learners understand speed — not fear it, misuse it, or ignore it.

What You’ll Explore

* When speed is wrong – recognising inappropriate speed and teaching learners to self‑correct.
* Too slow (is it ever too slow?),  understanding how hesitation and under‑speed create risk.
* Staying safe through awareness.  Using concentration, observation, anticipation, space, and time.
* The real penalties of speeding: what learners need to know beyond the basics.
* Staying in control. Helping pupils judge speed confidently in changing environments.
* Teaching rural driving, managing bends, crests, hidden hazards, and variable limits.
* The ABC of good driving.  How Attitude, Behaviour, and Control shape safe speed choices.
